About Tom
Born in Brussels, I immigrated with my parents to the states as a child. Instilled at a young age for a nomadic existence, I lived in Texas, Iowa and Illinois before I moved out to St. Paul to start college at Macalester.
Upon graduating with a degree in physics, I left for China and remained there for seven years, sprinkling in a few sabbaticals in Tokyo and Southern France. During those years, I got a chance to work with a slew of interesting characters involved in China’s telecom, internet, consulting and investment industries. Now, I’ve repatriated myself to the states and am living in Boston, where I’m currently enrolled in the MIT Sloan School, working my way through a two year MBA program.
Old and new friend can reach me here.

Hey Tom, I ran into your blog when I did search for google internship:P Seems like we have a lot of interests in common! Say, I am wondering if you could tell me something about interning at google, like what kind of stuff can give u an edge in the application. I am a undergrad freshman, but I’ve been playing with Linux kernel (TCP/IP more specifically) for quite some time, and I plan to get something published soon. Still, I am kinda uncertain about appling there next summer. Pleeeeeeeeeeease help! :D THANKS! OH, and I moved to the States from China a few years ago. I bet we can have a lot to talk about!
Comment by Yunan 08.09.06 @ 10:50 pmHi, Tom. I am very interested in your background. Are you currently in Sloan? I am a chinese girl, and now I am preparing for my application for Sloan MBA for first round. I really want some sloanie to tell me about sloans’ MBA program, especially its entrepreneurship and students life. Cound we have a short talk on MSN(joy4wen@hotmail.com) or write the email? You know, I am struggling for many methods to approach sloan and know its charm, although I cannot go Boston for a real visit. Hope you can give me some help,if you see this message.
Thanks very much!
